Emphasis in these programs is placed on understanding the complex interplay of contending value systems and relationships in joint venture arrangements. In some instances these programmes have taken the form of in-country workshops for expatriates and local staff to identify cultural barriers to effective task performance. In other situations these programmes have involved a strategy to develop a common language and understanding at Executive and Director level.
